Generators 101
Generators are a critical part of resilience in a disaster, but it’s best to make sure your generator is ready to go in the event of an emergency. We're encouraging everyone to get their generators going… SAFELY… throughout the month of May, ahead of flood season. You are welcome to join us in generator start up day at noon on Sunday May 31. Use the Generator 101 sheet to help get you started.

Summer 2026: Get a Free Resilience Assessment with NYC SBS
If your business location is in an area at risk of flooding and/or you have sustained damage as a result of flood events from rain or coastal inundation, you may be eligible for an on-site, one-on-one risk assessment. This service helps small business owners to be better equipped to identify risks and handle future threats while staying focused on their overall goal - increased revenue and growth.
SBS experts will review your physical location, business operations, and insurance needs to provide you with personalized recommendations to help reduce the risk to your business and/or property in the case of disruptive events and economic shocks.
NOTE: If you received the BPREP Grant you are not eligible for this program.
SBA/EIDL Loans
Red Hook currently has two active SBA/EIDL loan opportunities for recovery following both the 481 Van Brunt fire and flooding on May 20th 2026.
If you were affected by either of these events, you may be eligible for low-interest federal disaster loans, even if you're a freelancer, independent contractor, or artist without an LLC.
